Projects
Pixel Abuse
Pixel Abuse was a series of visual micro-projects reflecting on how young women in Asia are portraying themselves on social media. Many young women feel pressured to follow typical expected appearance in order to be considered attractive (‘pretty’). Perhaps this desire to follow conformity is brought on by the Korean-wave or the availability and acceptance of plastic surgery as the norm. Whatever the case; millions of women are making their image available for the consumption of complete strangers. Many designers and artists can now use these images cost free to produce artwork that they can then earn from.
